AVJM LLC ("we") makes Fennec, a Mac app that transcribes your meetings on your Mac and suggests answers. This policy says what we collect, why, and what you control.
What stays on your Mac
- Audio. The app records your microphone and your computer's sound to transcribe them. Audio never leaves your Mac and is not stored after transcription.
- Transcription. Speech is turned into text on your Mac with an open source model (whisper.cpp).
- Your context sources. The folders and repositories you add are indexed on your Mac. Files that look like secrets or data exports are excluded, and secrets inside other files are removed before anything is indexed.
- Your records. Processes, stages, transcripts, questions, follow-ups and summaries are stored in a database on your Mac.
What leaves your Mac, and why
- Text sent for suggestions. To suggest an answer, the app sends text to our servers: recent lines of the transcript, short excerpts from your context sources that match the question, summaries of your sources, your profile and your briefing. Our servers pass it to Anthropic, the AI provider, and stream the answer back. We do not store this text and do not log it. Anthropic processes it under its commercial terms, which do not allow training its models on it.
- Account data. Your email address, your sign-in method (Google or email), and an account id, to let you sign in.
- Billing data. Stripe handles payments. We receive your subscription status, plan and billing period, never your card number.
- Usage data. For each request we store the date, the feature used, the model, token counts, cost and timing, so we can apply plan limits and keep the service affordable. This record holds no text from your meetings.
- Optional sync. Off by default. If you turn it on, your records are stored on our servers so you can see them on other devices. Audio, your context index and source summaries are never synced. You can turn sync off and delete the synced copy at any time.
Recording other people
Recording and transcribing a conversation can require the consent of everyone in it, depending on where you and they are and on your employer's rules. You are responsible for telling the other participants and getting their consent where it is required.
How long we keep data
- Account and billing data: while your account is open, then as long as tax and accounting law requires.
- Usage records: 24 months.
- Synced records: until you delete them, turn sync off, or close your account.
Your choices and rights
You can export your records from the app at any time, delete any session, process or record, close your account, and ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you or for its deletion by writing to hi@heyfennec.com. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or the CCPA) you may have further rights, including the right to complain to a data protection authority.
